Tea-ceremony utensils on tatami mat. Water is heated in the iron kettle
on the brazier at left. Water from the lidded vessel at right is ladled
into the kettle to adjust the temperature of the tea water in the kettle.
Powdered tea is taken from the lacquer container with the scoop that rests
on top of it, and the bamboo whisk is used to mix the powdered tea with
boiling water from the kettle.

temple Kennin-ji. To emphasize their equality in the tea ceremony, the guests
must enter the tearoom through a low door that requires them to crouch.
